London is the most exciting capital city in the world!  And Muswell Hill, the home of Excel English, is one of the most attractive and fashionable parts of London.

Muswell Hill is very popular.  It is situated on a hill in the north part of London with wonderful views right across the centre. The area is residential with many large family houses and it has the atmosphere of a village even though it is part of a great city.

Although Muswell Hill is one of the safest places to live in London, it is also known for its lively nightlife with many cafes, bars, pubs and restaurants as well as a cinema and two nightclubs. You will also find interesting places to shop and sports centres where you can keep fit. If you want to practice your religion, there are many places of worship in Muswell Hill or nearby.

Muswell Hill is also very relaxing because it is a very 'green' part of London with many parks and open spaces, including Alexandra Park and Queen's Woods.

The area has an interesting history. The first television broadcasts in the world were made from Alexandra Palace and famous past residents of Muswell Hill include the singer Rod Stewart and Ray Davies of the 70's pop group The Kinks. The area is still very popular with actors and entertainers and other people in the media.

You will also find it very easy to get from Muswell Hill to the centre of London as the area is in zone 3 of the London transport system and there are many buses and several underground stations to choose from.

These Teacher Refresher Courses have been created by Excel English – a top London school. We are known for the standards of our teaching, social activities and student care.  We are accredited by the British Council, founder members of English UK and a member of Quality English, which represents a group of carefully chosen English language schools.

These courses are intended for overseas teachers of English who want to improve their mastery of the English language, discover new methodology, and learn about British culture.
Each two week course offers 24 hours input per week, combining language enhancement and teaching methodology. Participants also take part in organised cultural activities.
The course is suitable for teachers specialising in teenage and adult students. Teachers should have at least an Upper Intermediate level of English.

Language Enhancement
Lessons will be based around a number of themes and will improve and update participants’ grammar, pronunciation and current English usage. Possible themes include:

·    Food in Britain

Methodology
We will look in detail at teaching methods and offer practical sessions on a range of modern communicative methodologies including:

Accommodation

All our accommodation is either within walking distance of the school or a maximum of 25 minutes travel by bus. We offer different types of accommodation depending on the time of year.

Non summer Accommodation is Homestay
January 3rd - June 19th &
October 17th - October 31st
Our homestays are carefully and regularly inspected. The homes are clean and the host(s) friendly and welcoming. You will have a single room unless you ask to share with a friend.

Summer Accommodation is Residential
July 4th to August 29th
During the summer months accommodation is provided in single rooms in a self catering residence, a short bus journey from the school.   There are shared bathroom facilities and self-catering kitchens where you can prepare drinks and meals.
