IPC is based in a historic building overlooking Exeter quayside and the river Exe. Colleton Crescent was built for the wool merchants who brought prosperity to the city of Exeter in the 17th century, and was the subject of a painting by the English artist William Turner. The English authoress Beatrix Potter was a regular visitor to number 9 Colleton Crescent. You will sense the history as you walk towards school for the first time.
The school is a short walk from the centre of Exeter. The building offers 9 comfortable classrooms, a kitchen which dispenses many hundreds of thousands of free cups of tea and coffee to course participants each year, and 2 computer rooms. A wireless signal is accessible throughout the building and we offer free internet access in our suites of netbooks and laptop computers.
Courses for Teachers of English and Other Subjects
IPC has more than 15 years' experience of providing teacher training courses for teachers from all over the world. ACCOMMODATION FOR TEACHERS' COURSES
If you are joining a course with IPC you will want to know about the options for accommodation. Being comfortable in your accommodation in Exeter will be one of your first considerations. Our Accommodation Team - led by Clare Dowell - takes a pride in providing you with accommodation that will enrich your learning experience.
HOMESTAY ACCOMMODATION
We have a team of around 200 hosts and host families (in fact the British Council tells us that we must refer to them as Homestay Hosts) who live all over the city of Exeter. We can offer homestay accommodation throughout the year and we recommend this as an option that will allow you to focus on speaking as much English as possible when you are on a course with IPC.
En-suite RESIDENTIAL ACCOMMODATION at Exeter University
For courses taking place between the beginning of July and the end of August, we recommend our excellent residential accommodation on the campus of Exeter University. We encourage teachers' course participants to select this option for summer courses, and to apply for additional funding to cover this cost when completing Comenius funding applications. We aim to mix teachers of different nationalities in this accommodation - to create an exciting internatonal atmosphere that will allow for communication in the common language - English.
All rooms en-suite. We offer single study bedrooms with en-suite toilet, shower and basin.
Three meals a day provided. You will sit down to breakfast and dinner in the main dining area - a healthy breakfast and a good quality three course meal for dinner. A packed lunch is provided for participants working at IPC HQ.
Travel to and from the school. From Holland Hall you will walk approximately 10 minutes to your nearest bus stop from where you can take a bus (bus passes provided) into the centre of the city (approx 5 mins on the bus - depending upon traffic).. The school is a short walk from the centre of the city.
