Teacher Training Programme
This programme is aimed at non-native teachers of English who wish to access tried and tested teaching materials and methodologies and who want to increase their own language awareness.
Attention is also paid to the latest materials and thinking in teaching young learners and their practical application in the classroom.
Preparation
Participants require a B2 (CEF) level of English or above.
Participants need to be aware of their learners’ profiles.
Objectives
To refresh and improve the participants' knowledge of English to allow them to be more confident users of English in a classroom environment.
The course focuses on methodology and practical ideas for teaching young learners. The goal of the programme is to improve the participants' self-awareness as professional teachers, to focus on both modern teaching styles for all language skills, and on current ELT classroom methodology.
To receive an introduction to the culture and people of Ireland.
Pedagogical Outcomes
When the course finishes, non-native ELT teachers will have improved their teaching skills in the following areas:
· How to prepare for and present listening, speaking, writing, reading, grammar and vocabulary classes to learners of different CEF levels
· Improve their own pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar skills
· The teachers will also have improved their ability to develop & asses teaching materials
· Using the internet as a language learning tool
· Teaching as part of a team
· Assessing, testing and advising
· Teachers will also have observed native teachers in the classroom.
Methodology
Based on participants' needs, the course includes language awareness and analysis, classroom management and lesson planning, teaching the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, testing and evaluation, error correction, materials development and current issues in methodology.
Participants will have the opportunity to put their teaching into practice during the microteaching sessions. Participants will be observed by our trainers in their classes, detailed feedback will be given.
The culture of the class is participative and the objective is that participants leave with a range of new ideas and class plans that they can instantly use with their classes on their return. While everything is done through the medium of English, the focus is not solely on language, but on how to best develop and use new materials and employ effective methodologies to engage young learners.
However, to empower the participants, attention will be paid to the major grammar and vocabulary areas.

Accommodation
Family acommodation with half board during the week and full board at weekends. Residential accommodation available 15 minutes walk from school (self-catering, meals avalaible at the school Ozone Coffee EUR 30 per week).
